Enter Partner Paring Cards.
Faced with this same situation, I started experimenting with themed partner cards—first just simple word pairs like croissant and baguette. But the more I used them, the more I realized just how versatile they could be. I began building out full sets around seasonal, thematic, and vocabulary-rich topics. The result? A collection of pairing cards that feel like a game—but function as a classroom management tool, a speaking prompt, and a vocabulary builder all in one.
How It Works

Each card set includes 5 themed groups, with 3 matching pairs and 2 wild cards per group.
Every card has a visual clue and its French word, making them perfect for Core French, FSL, or immersion classrooms, even with mixed proficiency levels.
Students can:
Find their match (e.g., le pain + le fromage)
Work in groups of 2–8, depending on your goals
Practice targeted vocabulary while moving and talking
